First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
3.5 Stars for Darynda Jones (Author) &
4.0 Stars for Lorelei King (Narrator)
A funny, irreverent look at death and the Grim Reaper. According to this book the after death experience isn't how we've imagined it to be.
Charley Davidson (yes a play on words) is the Grimm Reaper - but she is so much more. She is a P.I., part-time bartender, & consultant for the Albuquerque Polce Department. All the careers tie in together in a quirky way. Oh yes, she also has the most real wet dreams imaginable. If that wasn't enough to make me love this series (and I can tell I will after this book) then at the beginning of each chapter there is a quote as seen on a t-shirt or bumper sticker relating to the paranormal.
I loved Charley Davidson's collection of odd friends. I've had a few "weird agent" friends in my time too and it makes life interesting. The author's sense of humor was right up my alley and I had a few LOL moments and got those looks you get when people wonder, what in the "H" is she laughing at. The narrator did a great job working this book and if you like comedic paranormals...this is the book for you.
