I always thought of myself as a tough old broad so it always comes as a surprise when a book gets under my skin and makes me cry! I really hate that...yet I know the book has to be good to get to me. This one was and did!
Dageus MacKeltar sacrificed everything for his twin brother's life & happiness. Now he's possessed by 13 evil souls and is trying to find out how to get rid of them. He has left his country, Scotland, and his time, the sixteenth century, to get as far away from the pull the evil entities have on him. While researching ancient texts to find a way to rid himself of the evil within he meets Chloe Zanders, student of antiquities and snoop. Yes, snoop. She was prowling through his house while waiting to deliver an ancient text and was caught by Dageus. That's when the fun begins. The tears (for me) come later.
It was a mental adventure not only through the twenty-first century but also through the sixteenth century. I was able to revisit Dageus' father, step-mom, & twin brother, Drustan and family. It felt like they were my family. That is how invested I am in the series now. I'm still not sure if I like this book the best or the previous one Kiss of the Highlander which featured Drustan. Please don't make me choose because they are both awesome. Each time that Dageus' eyes darkened I was sad and when they turned golden - Wow! It was HOT. I'll bet you know what makes them golden!
Oh yes...Adam, my fey friend, had a cameo visit in this book too. Before you know it I'll be singing his praises. After all I've gone from hating Adam to understanding him and now calling him my fey friend. What a tangled web Ms. Moning weaves in this series taking me from one extreme of emotion to another. Shame on you. You are making this a favorite series for me...
